I got up early this morning to check on the rain and turned on the KTLA Morning News (Channel 5 in Los Angeles). I've long considered the KTLA News to be one of the more fair and balanced and have never felt the leftward bias that's so prominent in other news programs.
Just as I turned it on they broadcast the story about the Bush tapes and how he supposedly admitted drug use in his youth. That was the focus of the story and it didn't touch on the many positive things about what Bush had said in those conversations. I was a little bit concerned at the tone of the story.
However, morning anchor Emmet Miller did something that you rarely see on TV. He actually jumped in as they were tossing to the business reporter and stated that he'd heard the tapes and the tone of the tapes were much better than what they had just reported. In effect, he clarified and corrected a story that they had just broadcast.
Good for you Emmet and KTLA Morning News!
