HolyCoast in Hawaii 2006

Hawaii Trip: Intro / Arrival / Day 1 / Day 1 ( pt 2) / Day 2 Early / Day 2 / Day 3 / Day 4 / Day 5 / Day 6 / Day 7 / Wrap-up

I was thinking the other day that what this blog really needs is for someone to go over to Hawaii, spend a week there, and report back on all the beautiful scenery and activities in which they participated. Any volunteers?

I see that hand, are there others?

Oh, okay. I'll do it.

Thanks to a good sales year with my agency, and the generosity of my employer, Mrs. HolyCoast and I will be headed to Kauai, HI tomorrow for 8 days of fun in the sun (and frequent rain showers - it looks like we're going to make up for all the rain we haven't gotten in Southern California). I'm taking the digital camera along, and just as I did on my Washington/Virginia vacation last July and the Oklahoma trip last November, and I'll be blogging as we go.

Neither of us have ever been to Hawaii before, so this will all be new to us. We're staying at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club in Lihue (conveniently located right off the end of the airport runway), and already have a Jeep Wrangler reserved as our trusty steed for the week's activities. Already planned are a boat cruise on the Wailua River, a three hour ATV tour of the back country, and many long drives to Princeville and Hawaii's version of the Grand Canyon. We may do the luau thing one night, just to say we've done it, and other activities will be decided on the fly. I'll be updating the blog with each day's activities, along with trying to keep up with the news of the day. Thankfully, the hotel has high speed internet access (although they charge extra for it, which I don't like too much).

There won't be any morning updates on Feb. 22 since we'll be leaving very early for the airport. We're flying a United non-stop from LAX, which makes me a little nervous since I usually prefer to fly on non-bankrupt airlines, but I'm not paying for it so I don't have much choice. The first Hawaii posting should be up sometime later in the day.

So come on along and enjoy it with us. Remember, I'm willing to sacrifice and travel all the way to Hawaii for a week just for you. I'm sure you'd do the same for me.
