February 22nd marks the 25th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice, the defeat of the Soviet Olympic Hockey Team by a bunch of U.S. college kids. I remember that night well. It was a Friday and I was driving up to my parent's home from San Diego as the game was played. I can still remember, just about the time I was passing the San Onofre nuclear power plant, the announcement that the U.S. had won the game. After all the defeats of the Carter years, this was a victory the U.S. badly needed.
If you don't remember everything that occured that year, rent the movie "Miracle". It's a pretty good recounting of the U.S. team's victory that year.
