Saving the Taxpayers Money

Death row inmates in Connecticut have decided to save the taxpayers millions of dollars that would have been spent on endless appeals (hat tip TKS):

Death row inmates are staging a hunger strike at Northern Correctional Institution to draw attention to conditions at the "supermax" facility, which they describe as "tantamount to psychological torture."

Through an intermediary, the inmates issued a statement vowing to refuse food "for the duration, however long, " and made clear that they were not protesting the whirlwind of death-row related events of the past few weeks.
