Car Alarms Are Of the Devil

I hate car alarms with a passion, especially when they go off for no apparent reason at 3:54 am. I was jolted out of a perfectly good dream and awakened to the squeal of an alarm and the flashing of lights. It went for about 30 seconds and then stopped...only to start up again a few seconds later. That went on for 15 minutes.

This has happened before and only the greatest of restraint kept me from going out and bashing in a window on my neighbor's screaming car so at least the alarm would have a reason to sound. Of course, the neighbor who owns the car lives far enough from the parking area that I'm sure he never heard a thing.

Besides the obvious problem of lost sleep, I hate car alarms because they serve no useful purpose whatsoever. Did anyone run out to see what was wrong? Did anyone even look out their window to see if anything was wrong? Did Robert Blake and O.J. show up to see if it was the real killer? NO! Nobody cares. The only thing car alarms do is tempt otherwise law abiding Christian citizens to commit honorable hari-kari on their neighbor's car.

There, I feel much better now...
