I've come out of the closet before and admitted....I'm a fan of The West Wing. I know it's basically an hour of Dem talking points, but it's pretty well written and well acted, and since I'm into this political stuff, it holds my interest despite the lefty politics.
Last night's program showcased the best and worst of West Wing. It was an interesting look into a brokered convention (which will never happen again), and a full frontal display of Dem superiority. One line really caught my attention and gave a great insight to the way the creators and writers of the show really think.
Josh, the character who is the campaign manager for candidate Matt Santos, is talking to some mucky-muck from the teacher's union and trying to get him to support his candidate. The union guy is making the case that no candidate can win without the support of teachers, and then makes this statement: "Teachers are to the Democratic Party what Bibles and bumpkins are to the Republicans".
The sad thing is the guys who write and produce West Wing undoubtedly believe that, and think that anyone with any brains or education would never be a Republican. Let's let them keep thinking that, and we'll keep beating them come election time.
