Mort Outraged By New Pope

I just watched the panel on Special Report, and Mort Kondracke described himself as outraged that the cardinals selected Cardinal Ratzinger as Pope. Why? The reason for Mort's dismay is that Cardinal Ratzinger, in an earlier publication, dared to suggest that the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. Imagine that - a Pope who believes his own doctrine!

Apparently Mort thinks that the Catholic Church should reach out to other religions and treat them as equals, including embracing their beliefs. Sorry Mort, it doesn't work that way. There are actually some of us who believe that Jesus was serious when He said in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Doesn't sound like He was leaving much doubt as to how it's all supposed to work.

Something else to think about, as K.J. Lopez points out at The Corner:
The Holy Spirit, it would seem, endorses orthodoxy, a la PJPII.

Who can argue with THAT endorsement? And a reader to The Corner wonders about the name of the new Pope:
Isn't it logical that since the last one was John Paul that the next would be Pope George Ringo I?

Heh.
