Tomorrow the HolyCoast family and HolyCoast Dad will be riding the Amtrak rails down to San Diego for a visit to the USS Midway, a retired aircraft carrier that has been converted into a floating museum. This is a long delayed Christmas present for HolyCoast Dad and something we've been looking forward to for awhile. Hopefully the rain will stay away until we're done.
This won't be my first visit to an aircraft carrier-turned-museum. A few years ago I had a chance to tour the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, TX. There are some photos of that trip here.
If you saw the movie "Pearl Harbor", the Lexy was used for some of the flight deck shots in that film. If you didn't see the movie, you're probably not alone. Not too many people went to that one.
I'll have some photos and info up on this site tomorrow night.
