During an earlier event yesterday, Mehlman poked fun at Dean's comment. At a reception for him by the Republican Jewish Coalition, held at the Duquesne Club, Mehlman quipped: "Good afternoon, my fellow white Christians."
I'm guessing that Mehlman will get a lot of play out of Dean's "white Christian" comment. And that's exactly how Republicans should fight back, by playing Howard for the fool. Rather than snipe back with our own version of nasty comments, making fun of what he's said will have a much greater impact and will further marginalize future comments by Dean and the Dems. Pretty soon they all sound crazy (of course, maybe they are).
