Firsthand Report From a Gitmo Veteran

Hugh Hewitt interviewed a veteran of Gitmo who served for one year at the now notorious detention center. Read his interview here, and you'll see that the critics of Gitmo have no idea what they're talking about.

Hugh also got an interesting email from a midwest pastor regarding Durbin's "apology":
"As you know I'm a pastor, which means I spend a lot of time talking about repentance and forgiveness. I also listen to people confess and repent. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't hear Senator Durbin admit he had actually done anything wrong, only that he was sorry 'some were offended.' Which is another form of his previous statement, that he was sorry he was misunderstood, which is not the same as an admission of guilt, but an admission of unintended consequences. Again, am I wrong, did I miss something, or is he equivocating with tears this time?"

What Durbin was really saying is that he's sorry that we're too stupid to understand his nuanced form of expression, and if only we were as enlightened as him, we would understand how wise he really is and would thank him for sharing his intellect with us instead of denigrating him for insulting the US Military and placing our troops at increased risk.

Sorry, Dickie, but we're not buying it.
