Those Brave Hollywood Producers

I saw this interesting quote in today's Political Diary:
"You make a radical Muslim mad, and he won't rip off your bumper sticker, he'll rip off your bumper -- then your car will be found in another state, and he'll put a fatwa on you. I think fearing for your life is a pretty good reason not to do it" -- veteran TV producer Larry Gelbart on why the film industry doesn't make movies portraying Islamic extremists as bad guys (quoted in the Hollywood Reporter).

What wasn't said was that Hollywood has no problem going after what they think are "soft" targets, i.e. targets that don't shoot back. That's why Hollywood has no apparent fears about depicting Christians and other conservatives as "evil" or "mean" in their shows. For one thing that's the way they think Christians and conservatives really are, and even if their wrong, they won't have to hire flunkies to start their cars for them after the program airs. Christians don't order fatwas.
