What the article doesn't mention is that Proposition 22 won with 61.4% of the vote, and won in 52 of California's 58 counties. If the Governator is to have any chance of winning reelection in 2006, he has to veto this bill. If he signs it, the Dems still won't support him for reelection, and the conservatives will stay home on election day. He'll be toast as a politician in California.The California Legislature on Tuesday became the first legislative body in the country to approve same-sex marriages, as gay-rights advocates overcame two earlier defeats in the Assembly.
The 41-35 vote sends the bill to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
