- Waking up in a clean, dry bed with a roof over my head that belongs to me and my family safely close by.
- Flipping a light switch and having the lights come on.
- Being able to turn on a TV, computer or radio and find out what's going on in the world.
- Picking up the telephone and hearing a dial tone.
- Turning on a spigot and seeing clean, fresh water pour out.
- Taking a shower as hot and as long as I want.
- Toothpaste and soap.
- Having a working toilet.
- Being able to walk downstairs and not finding 5' of putrid flood water.
- Being able to open the refrigerator, seeing the light come on, and feeling the cool air.
- Having food and water readily available.
- Having a car, and one that runs.
- Being able to walk out my front door and not be in fear of looters and thieves.
- Being able to go to the nearby grocery store and pick up whatever I need.
- Being able to buy gas for my car, even if it gets more expensive every day.
- Having a good job and a good church.
Maybe I should break out in song, because there are a lot of people today in the Gulf States who may not have any of these things right now.
Don't forget to give to the relief effort.
