I got a call tonight from my Texas correspondent who tells me that every gas station in his area is either out of gas, or jammed with people trying to get gas. He lives in Frisco, which is quite a ways northeast of Dallas and a long way from Houston, where Rita is expected to come ashore. It sounds like there's a little panicking going on with the locals who are concerned that they may not be able to get gas when they need it.
Of course the whole Texas Gulf coast is heading his way, so I'm sure the demand on the gas supply in Texas has suddenly gotten pretty large. Let's hope there's no damage to the supply infrastructure, or gas lines in Texas may be a fixture for awhile.
