A Texas grand jury on Wednesday charged Rep. Tom DeLay and two political associates with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, an indictment that could force him to step down as House majority leader. If they were going to indict him for anything, it should have been for his comments about the "lean" federal budget. Oh well, it looks like Travis County D.A. Ronnie Earle has finally gotten his pound of flesh.
Rep. David Dreier from Southern California is likely to take DeLay's place.
UPDATE: The replacement for DeLay will be Roy Blunt of Missouri.
