I previously reported on the IRL race that I attended yesterday in Fontana and mentioned a wreck that occurred on the other side of the track from where I was seated. That wreck involved A.J. Foyt IV, grandson of legendary race driver A.J. Foyt Jr. He beat up his knees in the crash, but will make a full recovery.
That was his last ride in a Foyt car, and starting in Memphis a couple of weeks from now he'll be joining the fendered crowd as driver of the #38 Great ClipsDodge, owned by Akins Motorsports, which runs in the NASCAR Busch Series.
They'll be lots of changes for Foyt in moving to the big time of NASCAR racing. Of course the biggest change will be looking up into the stands and seeing people instead of empty seats.
