Ubersexual, and Proud Of It

You may remember the "metrosexual" description of certain males which came out awhile back. The definition, according to answers.com is "a dandyish narcissist in love with not only himself, but also his urban lifestyle; a straight man who is in touch with his feminine side." (See Kerry, John).

Well, there's a new description that sounds very, very familiar: Ubersexual.
According to advertising giant JWT, ubersexuals are men who embrace the positive aspects of their masculinity such as confidence, leadership, passion and compassion, without giving in to the stereotypes that give guys a bad name, including disrespect toward women, emotional emptiness, complete ignorance of anything cultural outside of sports, beer, burgers, and athletic shoes.
Hey, that's me! However, I'm not really overjoyed by the announcement that Bono, George Clooney and Bill Clinton were ranked as the top ubersexuals in America. I don't see anything in that description above which requires the man to be a liberal Democrat (isn't Bono Irish?). And how did Bill Clinton get on a list of people who don't disrespect women? He does that for a hobby. Oh well.

Rush Limbaugh thinks he qualifies too:

"This is what men were before feminism came along and neutered them!" Limbaugh exclaimed today on his national radio show. "Men weren't supposed to be any of that. They were supposed to be sensitive or be in touch with the feminine side, and these liberal women married these guys and turned them into actual wimps, and, you know, the feminist movement's imploding, and women in the feminist movement want what is now being called the new man, the 'ubersexual,' which is simply what a man was before they came along and started changing basic human nature."
Rush is right. This new description basically returns us to the pre-feminized man.

It's about time.
