Saddam Makes Direct Appeal to Democrats

Saddam's no dummy and is making a direct appeal to the Democratic Party:

Saddam Hussein told his trial on Wednesday he was beaten in U.S. custody and, in an extraordinary outburst toward the end of the hearing, also said those who had tortured Iraqis should be punished for their crimes.

Since the Dems are suckers for any allegation of torture involving U.S. forces, it's a sure bet that Sen. Kerry, Durbin, Boxer, Reid, or any number of the Dems will immediately call for hearings or Saddam's release.

As far as I'm concerned, if Saddam doesn't like his treatment by U.S. troops, perhaps we could have the Kurds take custody of him. It would certainly shorten the trial.
