After a few wrinkles in the homeward bound trip, we finally made it back to Southern California. This was the eighth straight year the quartet has traveled to Rockport, TX for the Rockport Gospel Music Festival, and as always, we had a blast. We sang to a packed house at the 1,800 seat high school auditorium on both Friday and Saturday nights, and the spent Sunday with the good folks at Rockport First Baptist Church.
Saturday morning we had a few spare hours before we needed to head to the show, so three of us ran up to Corpus Christi to tour the aircraft carrier
Lexington which is now a floating museum. Here's a shot from the flight deck:
And another of downtown Corpus Christi taken from the bow of the very windy flight deck:
Our hotel was located right on Fulton Harbor, a very scenic spot as the sun comes up:
I even got a little face time on the ABC affiliate in Corpus Christi. They came over to the final night of the Festival and interviewed some of the group managers, and I ended up briefly on the 10 pm news during their report. That was kind of fun.
Oh well, it's back to the real world.
