I came across an interesting article in The Boston Globe regarding the actions some states have taken to dramatically reduce the number of abortions in their state through regulations which are not forbidden by the Roe v Wade decision. The article is written by a staunch pro-abortion columnist, so of course she is bemoaning the regulation that has nearly wiped out abortion in South Dakota and other states. However, she gives some insight as to the tactics that pro-life forces could use to make abortion much more rare and a lot more difficult to obtain.
As we've discussed before, even if Roe was overturned tomorrow, abortion would not end. Only seven states currently have trigger laws on the books that would immediately ban abortion upon the overturning of Roe, so the other 43 would likely continue the practice with various levels of restriction or regulation. I imagine a few other states would consider outright bans, but there's no guarantee they would be successful.
Despite the sympathetic treatment of the abortionist and her victims, this article is a must-read for pro-life advocates. You can read it here.
