Don't Hurt Him Before You Kill Him

Once again a judge has stepped in and imposed silly procedural changes to the way California conducts executions. This is basically another step along the path to outlawing executions altogether:

California's attorney general told a judge Wednesday that the state would employ an anesthesiologist to make sure a death row inmate suffers no extreme pain during execution.

To comply with Tuesday's order by U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel of San Jose, the anesthesiologist must determine that Michael Morales is unconscious after he's given a sedative. Only then, under the judge's order, can a paralyzing agent and finally a heart-stopping drug be administered.

I've got an idea - let's just do it like the Chinese. One bullet to the back of the head. Completely painless and we won't have to waste our money on chemicals and anesthesiologists.

Or better yet, we can make them go bird hunting with Dick Cheney.
