Rahman to be Released?

There's a story out that Abdul Rahman, the Afghan Christian on trial for his life, may be released:

An Afghan court on Sunday dismissed a case against a man who converted from Islam to Christianity because of a lack of evidence, and he will be released soon, an official said.

"The court dismissed today the case against Abdul Rahman for a lack of information and a lot of legal gaps in the case," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the matter.

He said the case has been returned to the prosecutors for more investigation, but that in the meantime Rahman would be released.

"The decision about his release will be taken possibly tomorrow," he said.

Some suggest that the Afghan court is doing this to take the heat off of themselves, but I wonder if they're taking this action because once this guy's out in public, his life won't be worth a darn. The prevailing attitude among many Afghans is that he should be killed for rejecting Islam, and plenty of them are willing to do it in order to gain some sort of reward in paradise. If nothing, the public may do the court's job for them.

Somebody needs to get that guy out of there, or he'll be a martyr for sure.
