Patterico's Pontifications has had a busy week in his ongoing battles with the LA Times. With a little detective work, it was proven that a Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Michael Hiltzik was defending himself on the LA Times and other blogs by posting comments under several pseudonyms. In other words, he defended himself or attacked others by posting comments under fictitious names. Sort of like what I did in the first four comments on this post.
It's easy to do, but certainly not in keeping with the LA Times own standards of conduct (applicable section found here). Hiltzik has since been suspended from his LA Times blogging duties.
Hiltzik is apparently not alone. This morning Patterico identified another frequent commenter who's posts, which frequently throw around the term "fascist", are also coming from the LA Times. We all know the mainstream media does not like criticism from anyone, especially lowly bloggers. I find their choice of responding by posting comments under false names to be cowardly at best.
