First Amendment or "Clean" Government

Sen. John McCain certainly isn't endearing himself to conservatives with statements like this (from the Imus show, h/t Mark Tapscott)
"He [Michael Graham] also mentioned my abridgement of First Amendment rights, i.e. talking about campaign finance reform....I know that money corrupts....I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I'd rather have the clean government."

As Glenn suggests, the good senator doesn't seem to care much for his oath to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States. McCain would rather rob his people of their rights under the first amendment, than risk the problems that may result from freedom. Sorry, I'll take the occasional problem politician rather than turn over my rights to the government.

As I've stated previous, McCain will never get my vote.
