The Senate Compromise on Immigration

I'll defer to the legal eagles at Powerline for a description of today's Senate compromise immigration legislation:

A group of Senate Republicans, led by Majority Leader Frist, has reached agreement on a compromise immigration reform proposal. The proposal seems to conform to my concept of a bad immigration bill -- it provides the certainty of benefits for illegal aliens with only the promise of future enforcement. David Frum has the same concern.

I'm not terribly surprised that enforcement was an afterthought.
