Sources close to the White House said Monday that Fox anchor Tony Snow is likely to accept the job as White House press secretary, succeeding Scott McClellan.Given Snow's young family and his recent health problems, I didn't really expect him to take the job, but for a guy who seems to enjoy being in the middle of the action, Snow might feel it's worth the effort to do this for the next couple of years.
The sources said they expect him to announce his decision within the next few days.
A source familiar with the discussions said Monday that newly appointed Chief of Staff Josh Bolten asked Snow to make a decision by early this week.
This could be very entertaining. There's no question that Snow has the skills to give back what he gets from the press, and those daily press briefings will certainly be more challenging for the David Gregorys and Helen Thomases of the world.
