Gen. Michael Hayden has been appointed to head the CIA, and it looks like a big fight is coming, both from the Dems and from some key Republicans. Some members do not like the idea of having a military officer running the Agency, though it's been done before and there's no legal prohibition. The other big issue, of course, is Hayden's past leadership of the NSA, including running the agency's surveillance of foreign calls coming into the U.S. Expect Russ Feingold and others to have major hissy fits during the hearings.
At this point, the confirmation of Hayden is far from a sure thing.
