If you watched the news at all on Sunday you saw clips of the President and his alter ego, comedian Steve Bridges, knocking them dead at the White House correspondents' dinner. I didn't see the whole routine, but what I did see was pretty funny and well written and delivered. It was definately the hit of the evening.
What's really interesting is the reaction of the angry left. The headliner for the evening was comedian Steven Colbert, who according to reports, gave a very pointed comedic assault on Bush which went over like a lead balloon, even among the journalists. According to some who were there, the guy just wasn't funny.
The lefties are outraged that none of Colbert's routine made it onto the various TV news shows. Editor and Publisher even ran a piece on how the president "was not amused" by Colbert's routine. In fact, it doesn't sound like anyone was amused. He wasn't funny. It's no wonder the news shows ignored him.
You can read some of his lines in the Editor and Publisher piece and judge for yourself. Some on the left are loudly proclaiming that this is another example of the "Republican-controlled media".
Yeah, right.
Bush and Bridges had a good routine. Too bad Colbert didn't have the president's writers.
