On April 6, Senator John McCain, Mr. Maverick, introduced a resolution to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee advocating a World Cup ban on Iran — a resolution that is sure to go nowhere. To its credit, FIFA has rejected all of these demands, and seems unlikely to budge.Dumb idea. The U.S. has no right to make demands on FIFA for any reason. Mixing sports and politics is rarely a good idea, and frankly, there may be a billion people around the world who care about the World Cup, but you won't find many of them in the U.S. This is just another cheap media stunt by McCain.

Political Futbol
Senate arrogance knows no bounds, and now Sen. John McCain (Media-AZ) is demanding that the international body which oversees soccer kick the Iranians out of the World Cup competition in Germany this summer:
