However they portray themselves, the media is sure to give them the status of the next Mary and Joseph, or Rosa Parks, or maybe Krusty the Klown. I don't know. You surely won't hear the word "illegal" much.
If you'd like to keep up with today's events, Hot Air will have a running blog to keep you up-to-date with all the latest outrages. Check in frequently (if you can do that while you're working for a living).
By the way, there may be a boycott today, but I'll bet the sales numbers will be huge tomorrow. The people that run the downtown L.A. produce marts are predicting a $1 million impact on L.A. by closing their stores. Big deal. Any sales that weren't made today will be made tomorrow. That's why boycotts like this are so meanlingless. No money will actually be taken out of the economy - the purchases will just be postponed for a day. What does that prove? Not much.
As an added footnote, on his radio show this morning Bill Handel (KFI-Los Angeles) suggested that to honor the boycott, Cardinal Roger Mahoney has asked his priests not to molest any Mexican kids today. After all, if the boycott is going to succeed, everyone has to do their part.
UPDATE from Hugh Hewitt:
Today's march will be huge, extensively covered, and without effect. Immmigration reform is not happening in this Congress, and the organizers of the march are among those responsible for the deadlock.Agreed.
If regularization of illegal immigrants' status had been the goal of the organizers, they would have urged the quick passage of the House bill with its 700 miles of border fencing. With serious border enforcement in the works, a large majority of voters would have supported some regularization program.
But the march organizers don't want that deal. They don't want any deal. They want conflict and polarization.
