JonBenet Suspect Freed - No Case

The case against John Mark Karr starting falling apart almost immediately after his arrest as alibis popped up, and now the D.A., with no DNA evidence linking Karr to the case, has petitioned the court to quash the arrest warrant and free Karr (from The Smoking Gun):
AUGUST 28--Colorado investigators today provided the first insight into what led them to arrest John Mark Karr for the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. In a motion to quash Karr's arrest warrant, the Boulder County district attorney this afternoon revealed that they had little more than Karr's bizarre claims--delivered in e-mails and phone calls to a University of Colorado journalism professor--to support their belief that he murdered the six-year-old beauty queen in December 1996. The prosecution's motion, a copy of which you can find below, provides a detailed account of the Karr probe, which collapsed today shortly after test results showed that Karr's DNA did not match samples taken from the crime scene. After all the breathless media coverage of this creep the last week or so, will the media apologize for treating this guy like he was so vitally important that we had to interrupt other broadcasts to show his airplane arriving in Los Angeles, or carry front page stories on what he ate in business class? Probably not - instead he'll get invited to all the morning shows to tell his story (you just know the Perky Katie is kicking herself for not being on Today anymore and being able to score that interview). And, of course, this whole thing got him out of Thailand where he might have faced some pretty serious charges.

I'm sorry they haven't caught the child's killer, but I hope this creep's sideshow comes to an end very soon.

UPDATE Karr won't go free. He'll be returned to California so we can waste our taxpayer dollars on him.
