Cranston mayor Steve Laffey has conceded the primary race to Sen. Lincoln Chafee. It looks like the $1 million the Republicans spent to save Chafee's RINO butt paid off. Good for the GOP - they've saved another vote against their agenda.
In another hot primary, Rep. Ben Cardin is likely to beat Kweisi Mfume for the Democratic nomination in Maryland, which will cause a real dilemma for many of the state's black citizens. Do they support the Dems who just rejected one of their own (and the former head of the NAACP), or do they support Michael Steele, the black Republican? Steele's an awfully attractive candidate, though I expect a full-fledged racist attack to come from the left. Such attacks may further drive black voters toward Steele.
