Debbie Stabenow, Michigan's junior U.S. Senator, says President Bush and Vice President Cheney don't follow the law when it comes to national security issues, and the Republican-controlled Congress has failed to hold them accountable. "The reality is, both the president and Dick Cheney don't believe they are hampered by the law," Stabenow told the News-Review editorial board. "They believe the general powers of the presidency allow them to do whatever they need to do to keep us safe.Lord knows we don't want the president to do whatever he needs to do to keep us safe.(?) Just to remind you who Stabenow is, here's a little blast from the past:
"That's why we need at a minimum at least one of the Houses in Democrat control to create the accountability that for six years, this one-party rule has not been willing to have. . . ."
Step 1: Admit you have a problem.
