NFL Stomps Tennessee Tackle

A Tennessee Titan defensive tackle kicked an opponent in head following a play in yesterday's game, and will pay a heavy price. The guy he kicked had lost his helmet on the play, and from what I heard, received a gash from the kick that took something like 30 stitches to close:
NEW YORK (AP) - Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has been suspended five games for kicking Dallas centre Andre Gurode in the face during Sunday's game.

The NFL said Monday that Haynesworth was suspended for flagrant unnecessary roughness.

The suspension is effective immediately. Haynesworth will be eligible to return to the field Nov. 19 for the Titans' game at Philadelphia.

The suspension is without pay.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell called Haynesworth's actions "inexcusable."
Losing 5 games out of a 16 game season is a pretty serious suspension. That would be the rough equivilent of suspending a major league baseball player for 50 games, or a NASCAR driver for 11 races. It's about 31% of the season.

He's lucky they'll let him come back and play at all.
