NEW YORK (AP) - Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has been suspended five games for kicking Dallas centre Andre Gurode in the face during Sunday's game.Losing 5 games out of a 16 game season is a pretty serious suspension. That would be the rough equivilent of suspending a major league baseball player for 50 games, or a NASCAR driver for 11 races. It's about 31% of the season.
The NFL said Monday that Haynesworth was suspended for flagrant unnecessary roughness.
The suspension is effective immediately. Haynesworth will be eligible to return to the field Nov. 19 for the Titans' game at Philadelphia.
The suspension is without pay.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell called Haynesworth's actions "inexcusable."
He's lucky they'll let him come back and play at all.
