Poor Choice of Words From a Democrat

Remember how Democrats are the party of tolerance and inclusion and Republicans are the party of racism? Perhaps Democrat Steny Hoyer needs some refresher training:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Maryland, said Tuesday he should not have said Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, an African-American Republican running for Senate, has had "a career of slavishly supporting the Republican Party."

"I should not have used those words," Hoyer said in a statement.

Hoyer made the remark Sunday to a largely African-American audience at an Upper Marlboro, Maryland campaign event for Steele's opponent, Democratic Rep. Ben Cardin. It was described as "insensitive and pretty stupid" by Steele's spokesman Doug Heye.

"This is nothing new for Steny Hoyer," charged Heye who pointed out that in 2002 Hoyer was quoted referring to Steele as a "token" candidate -- although Hoyer believes he was quoted out of context at the time.
Why doesn't he just call Steele an "Uncle Tom" or and "oreo" like all the other Democrats?
