School Punishing Parents

I heard this story on Special Report and I got a little irritated:
Mommy and Daddy Detention

The folks who run the Manhattan School for Children in New York have come up with a unique way to motivate parents to get their kids to school on time —mommy and daddy detention. The New York Post reports parents who drop off their kids after the bell must report to the auditorium for a 20-minute "time out."

Principal Susan Rappaport says she's received some backlash but that the tough love approach is necessary at the nationally-honored public school. One woman who served detention said, "Was I humiliated? — Absolutely. But will I be late again? — No."

Any parent who would let themselves be taken into custody and placed in detention by a school ought to have their kids taken away, because they're too dumb to be allowed to be parents. The school may have authority over my kids, and only because I give them that authority, but they have no authority to place an adult under temporary arrest regardless of their policies.

Leave it to a bunch of Manhattan liberals to take it without fighting back.
