Who's the Hack Now?

Let me try and explain that title. I'm not into the whole blog wars thing where sites start dueling with each other and calling each other names. That's immature and silly and not worth reading. However, when someone takes a cheap shot at me, especially when it turns out they were hopelessly wrong, I have to respond.

A couple of days ago I posted on the subject of a letter that was sent to Hispanics in Garden Grove which threatened dire consequences should an illegal alien or non-citizen vote on Nov. 7th. At that time I said this:

A little history here: "B-1" Bob Dornan used to represent Garden Grove in Congress but lost to Dem Loretta Sanchez after an election full of voter fraud. There were likely a great many illegals who voted for Sanchez (and probably continue to do so today). That doesn't excuse the people who sent these letters, but I can understand their frustration.
My assumption was the letter was probably sent by someone supporting a Republican candidate that was trying to keep the illegals out of the voting booths. For that quickly written opinion some guy at a blog I've never even heard of called me a "hack" and claimed that he had "journalistic integrity" because he had thought about it and his opinion was different than mine. Pretty harsh for such a nothing story, but then arrogance can be harsh. His link to my post generated a whole 4 visitors, so you can tell he's really packin' 'em in over there.

He even promised to "present evidence that the letter was sent by an illegal immigration supporter... ", apparently in an effort to embarrass Republicans.

Well, well, well. As I was driving through Escondido today (the site of its own illegal immigration story) imagine my amusement at hearing that the culprit had been caught. It now appears that the Republicans don't need any help from illegal immigration supporters to embarrass themselves. The letter was sent by staffer of a Republican running for Loretta Sanchez' seat in Congress.

Consequently, it is with great enjoyment that I present the update to this story:
Orange County GOP Chairman Scott Baugh has disputed GOP congressional candidate Tan Nguyen's claim that he had no knowledge of the mailing of a controversial letter erroneously telling immigrants not to vote.

Nguyen said earlier today in a statement that the mailing had been traced back to his campaign, and had occurred without his knowledge. Baugh disagreed.

"I've learned that Mr. Nguyen was involved in expediting that mailer," Baugh said. "I've had conversations with the attorney general and folks involved with the mail house. He called the mail house himself and told them to expedite the mailing."

Now, if Mr. Arrogance has the "journalist integrity" that he assures us that he has, not only will he correct the story (which he has) but he will post an apology to those he has so carelessly labeled "hacks" (which he hasn't).

Needless to say, I'm not expecting that to happen.

Just as an FYI, this is not a newspaper - this is an opinion blog. I write about whatever interests me at the moment. I'm entitled to my opinion, and if you visit here (and I hope you do), you're entitled to my opinion too. Ain't blogging wonderful?
