$6,000 Poorly Spent

This guy bet wrong:

WHITTIER - If the polls are correct, the "Governator" will likely "be back" in office next week - and his dolls don't seem to be going anywhere, either.

Whittier entrepreneur Derrell Brown, 75, was absolutely convinced about a year ago that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger would never win another term as governor.

So convinced, in fact, that Brown paid a Taiwan toy maker about $6,000 to create 1,400 talking Schwarzenegger dolls that mock his signature

Whittier, November 1, 2006. Whittier resident Derrell Brown spent $6,000 to have California Wiseguys dolls made for the National Guard to give away this holiday season. (Photo/Mike Mullen) Hollywood movie line, "I'll be back."

When you touch the G.I. Joe-size doll's arm, it announces: "I won't be back! I won't be back! I won't be back, I tell you!"

"I didn't think he was going to make it," Brown said. "But that was my own personal opinion."

But now, with Schwarzenegger leading in the polls against Democrat Phil Angelides in Tues day's election, Brown is eating those words. And all but gone is his dream of cashing in on the governor's defeat, Brown is nowslowly acknowledging.

Worse yet, he can't seem to give away his dolls.

The guy's trying to give them away to programs like "Toys for Tots". Can you imagine the "joy" a child would feel when being presented with one of these?
