The taxpayers of the City of Los Angeles will not have to pay $1.35 million per bite for the dog food consumed by "Rin-Tin-Tennie" Pierce, the LA firefighter who sued the city for racial discrimination. The known prankster could dish it out but apparently couldn't take it when his fellow firefighters honored his request to "feed the Big Dog".
The City Council originally okayed a $2.7 million dollar settlement (plus full pension benefits) for Pierce after he was fed two bites of dog food during a firehouse prank. After seeing numerous photos of Pierce engaged in his own hijinks (including shaving a fellow firefighter's genitals), the mayor vetoed the settlement which threw it back to the Council. It would take 10 votes to overturn the mayor, and unbelievably there were still 6 Council members willing to do just that. However, they fell short and the taxpayers won't have to pay this silly settlement.
