Have you noticed that the reaction of the losers in Tuesday's election is significantly different than the losers in the last three general elections? Have you heard any Republicans claim the election was "stolen"? Is anyone blaming Diebold? How about "butterfly ballots"? Any calls for a recount or lawsuits filed to stop election officials from certifying results? Anyone tried to invalidate the votes of overseas military personnel? Is anyone suffering from Post Election Selection Trauma? Have the Republicans started forming support groups to cope with the defeat?
No, and yet all those things mentioned above were common complaints from the Democrats in 2000, 2002 or 2004. The GOP has instead looked inward and is realizing that they were there own worst enemy in the past two years and brought this "thumpin'" on themselves. Assuming they do the right things and return to what brought them to power in 1994, I predict that the recovery period for the Republican Party will be much shorter than that experienced by the Dems.
