The answer: the Iraq Backtrack, a dance first made popular by John Kerry and John Edwards, both of whom also have their eyes on the 2008 prize. Hill's first steps came this weekend with her statement that "I'll never trust this president again". I've seen this act before, so I knew what was coming next, and here it is:
This morning on NBC's "Today" show, Sen. Clinton was asked about her 2002 vote and offered a slightly evolved answer. "Obviously, if we knew then what we know now, there wouldn't have been a vote," she said in her usual refrain before adding, "and I certainly wouldn't have voted that way."
She's not quite ready to drink the full strength Kook-Aid of the wacky left and call for an immediate pull-out, but watch her language in the coming days. She'll imply that she might consider a quick pull-out...without actually saying it.
