And animal rights activists in Germany want to block the construction of a giant ferris wheel in Berlin — because they say it will disturb the sex lives of rhinos in a nearby zoo. Reuters reports the $203 million, 574 foot tall wheel is being proposed by investors hoping to attract millions of visitors. But Berlin's animal rights association says the fully illuminated wheel will disturb the rhinos' daily routine and could stifle their attempts at breeding. The animal rights activists need to do a little research on rhinos. I've visited the Wild Animal Park in San Diego enough to know that rhinos are blind as bats and can only see movement immediately in front of them. They're more likely to smell you than see you. Chances are that ferris wheel won't even register on the rhinos love life.
If they can continue to breed while trams full of tourists go by every few minutes in San Diego, I don't think the ferris wheel will be a problem.
