A California lawmaker wants to make his state the first to ban incandescent lightbulbs as part of California's groundbreaking initiatives to reduce energy use and greenhouse gases blamed for global warming. The proponents of these ideas insist that CFL's provide the same amount of light as incandescent bulbs, but I'm not buying it. I tried to change an outdoor light I have to a CFL and the result was a trememdous reduction in illumination. I hated it and changed it right back.
The "How Many Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb Act" would ban incandescent lightbulbs by 2012 in favor of energy-saving compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
Maybe they'll get better, but we don't need the government telling us what kind of lightbulbs we use.
