Ditzy Chicks Win Big at Grammys, But Why?

The big news from the Grammys was the multiple awards won by the Ditzy Chicks, everybody's favorite anti-Bush music act. Their album "Taking the Long Way" was their way of fighting back against the career problems they suffered after multiple episodes of foot-in-mouth disease.

Was the album that good? I don't know - I've heard anything but brief clips. Based on something lead singer Natalie Maines said last night, the awards may have been more about politics than quality music:
As Maines accepted the album of the year, she joked: "I'm ready to make nice!" She then added: "I think people are using their freedom of speech with all these awards. We get the message."
Maines could have said "our album didn't really deserve all the awards but since it's now politically correct to bash Bush, the recording industry decided to do it by proxy by giving us all these statuettes. The rest of the nominees never had a chance."

Given that country music by and large ignored the album, there's probably more truth in that then you might otherwise think.
