As I write this it's 6:33 in the morning and the rest of my family is getting ready to leave for school. On Friday the sun was up at this hour and it was bright and clear. Today, thanks to the time change, it's pitch black with just a sliver of light along the eastern sky. The kids will start their first class of the day 15 minutes before sunup. I have a hard time believing it's a good idea to have thousands of kids walking to school in the dark.
With temperatures expected to be over 90 again today, we didn't just "Spring forward" one hour - we jumped ahead four months. It's mid-July around here with this hot weather, wind and fire. How are we saving energy (as the time change supposedly does) if we have every light on in the house while we're trying to get ready to leave? I wish they'd stuck with the old schedule.
