Tennessee Moves to Allow Guns in Public Buildings

Following the murders in Virginia a lot of lefties thought there would be a major public move to implement new gun bans. They may have misjudged America's reaction to the thought of hundreds of students and professors on a "defense-free" campus where they became targets in a shooting gallery. The state of Tennessee has reacted to the shootings, but not in a way that will make the anti-gun crowd happy:

In a surprise move, a House panel voted today to repeal a state law that forbids the carrying of handguns on property and buildings owned by state, county and city governments — including parks and playgrounds.

"I think the recent Virginia disaster — or catastrophe or nightmare or whatever you want to call it — has woken up a lot of people to the need for having guns available to law-abiding citizens," said Rep. Frank Niceley, R-Strawberry Plains. "I hope that is what this vote reflects."

There will be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth over this one. One congressman had this to say about the current state of gun laws:
Rep. Charles Rangel, a top House Democrat from Harlem, said Tuesday the shooting carnage at Virginia Tech won't change the nation's gun control laws.

Sorry, Chuckie, but it looks like there may be some changes after all.
