Worst Two Questions of the Evening

By far the dumbest question of last night's debate was this from Politico.com:
"What do you dislike most about America?"
Mitt Romney gave a pretty good answer, full of mom, apple pie and Chevrolet, but I wish they'd asked me that question in that setting, because there was an easy way to bat that one out of the park. My response:
"Are you sure you came to the right debate?"

(pause for hysterical laughter from crowd)

"Republicans don't spend their time navel-gazing about what they dislike most about America. That's what we have Democrats for."
Game. Set. Match.

Coming close at second dumbest was this question from Chris Matthews:
"Would it be good for America to have Bill Clinton back in the White House?"
The entire candidate forum laughed at that one, and that clearly threw Matthews for a loop. I heard him on an interview later in which he just couldn't understand why that question drew laughter. He stated that if that question had been asked to a black audience, they would have cheered. And if the question had been asked of a "sophisticated big-city audience" the reaction would have been the same. Matthews liberal bias came out loud and clear. Anyone who laughed is not "sophisticated" or just doesn't understand what a wonderful guy Clinton is.

Fortunately, the candidates batted that one back at Matthews.

For future debates the GOP has got to get a serious moderator and knock it off with these questions from views and website readers. There are too many candidates and too many important issues to waste time on the frivolous.
