WASHINGTON (CNN) — Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold announced Sunday he will introduce two censure resolutions to condemn President Bush and other top administration officials over the Iraq war and “repeated assaults on the rule of law.”McConnell "Mitchslapped" the Dems once again:
In a written announcement, his office called the resolutions “appropriate and necessary steps for Congress to rebuke an administration that is responsible for some of the worst misconduct and the worst abuses of the law in American history.”
Feingold told NBC’s “Meet the Press” the censure resolutions have not yet been drafted, though he has discussed the idea with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy.
Reid, D-Nev., told CBS’ “Face the Nation” that while Feingold is “a very brilliant man,” the Senate should be focusing on passing legislation.
WASHINGTON (CNN)–Republican Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell,
(R-Kentucky) was “stunned” at Sen. Russ Feingold’s (D-Wisconsin) plan to censure the president and his administration.
On CNN’s Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, McConnell said: “You know, today marks the 200th day of the new Congress. And I’m kind of stunned that Senator Feingold just recommended on the heels of the all-night theater of Tuesday night gives you a sense, Wolf, of why this Congress now has a 14 percent approval rating. We think it’s the lowest in the history of polling.”
Let them go, Mitch. If if keeps the Dems busy and keeps them from passing bad legislation, there's no harm in it.
