In addition to the hubbub over Iranian President Nutjob's desire to visit Ground Zero, there's another New York controversy underway involving Columbia University. The fool that runs the place has invited Nutjob to speak on campus. How fascinating.
Since 1969 the ROTC has been banned from the Columbia campus, and one of the reasons for the ban is the fact that the U.S. Military does not allow openly homosexual people to serve, and apparently Columbia doesn't think that's fair. How tolerant of them.
Given those facts, it's hard to understand why they would consider Nutjob an appropriate visitor. You see, in Nutjob's own country homosexuality is a capital offense, and in fact two men were recently hung during a public ceremony after having been convicted of having sex with one another. The last time I checked the U.S. Military hadn't executed anyone for homosexuality.
And how many Jewish students attend Columbia? Nutjob is on record denying the Holocaust and even holding a conference of other deniers, and desires the destruction of Israel and elimination of the Jewish race. Again, what has the military done that even remotely comparable?
The president of Columbia, as learned a man as he supposedly is, is apparently enough of a dim bulb that he doesn't realize that he's being used as a tool of Nutjob to lend himself credibility he doesn't deserve. Nutjob is a pretty savvy character and he'll play Columbia to his advantage.
UPDATE: Not all of Columbia's students are as clueless as the administrators. Michelle Malkin has a piece on Columbia student's organizing opposition to Nutjob's visit.
