Heck No, He Won't Go

The Minnesota court refused to allow Sen. Larry Craig to withdraw his guilty plea, so it looks like the Senator is going to remain in the Senate to continue his search for the real homosexual:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Idaho Sen. Larry Craig defiantly vowed to serve out his term in office on Thursday despite losing a court attempt to rescind his guilty plea in a men's room sex sting.

"I have seen that it is possible for me to work here effectively," Craig said in a written statement certain to disappoint fellow Republicans who have long urged him to step down.

Craig had earlier announced he would resign his seat by Sept. 30, but had wavered when he went to court in hopes of withdrawing his plea.

That's more bad news for the GOP's chances to gain seats next year. With a number of prominent retirements opening up previously safe seats, and now Craig's refusal to allow the appointment of a successor who could enter the election as the incumbent, it will be a minor miracle if the GOP even holds its own in the Senate next year.
